Guest Speakers

RSAB Ltd appreciates that a guest speaker should be carefully selected to suit the audience. We will take the time to work closely with you to select the right sportsperson, who can deliver some of the magic we all expect when we see them in real life. RSAB Ltd takes pride in the guest speakers we can offer to suit all events, including guest appearances, motivational or after dinner sporting personalities.

Here is a small selection of our guest speakers that could make your event one to remember:-


Ian Robertson

Robertson played rugby union for Cambridge University R.U.F.C., Watsonians RFC, London Scottish F.C., Scotland (1970-72) and the Barbarians. The most memorable moment of his playing career was Scotland's 1970 Calcutta Cup victory over England. At 25 he got a serious knee injury that would end his sporting career.

Robertson joined the BBC in 1972. Since April 1983 he is the Corporation's official rugby union correspondent, covering the sport not only on radio but also on television. He regards Scotland's 1984 and 1990 Grand Slams and Jonny Wilkinson's winning drop-kick in the final of the 2003 Rugby World Cup as his "best on air moments".

Ian Robertson is a prolific writer; he has written over 30 books and a number of autobiographies including famous rugby players such as Bill Beaumont.


Bob Champion

Bob Champion MBE (b. June 4, 1948) is an English Jump Jockey who won the 1981 Grand National on Aldaniti despite recovering from cancer which at the time he had only 40% chance of surviving and saw him not only lose his strength but also his hair. Their victory earned them that year's BBC Sports Personality of the Year Team Award and was chosen as one of the 100 Greatest Sporting Moments by Channel 4 viewers in 2002.

Champion also won the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup and the Whitbread Trial Chase. He was made an MBE in 1983. In the same year he formed the Bob Champion Cancer Trust, which has raised millions of pounds for cancer research. He retired from training horses in 1999.


Martin Johnson

Martin Osborne Johnson CBE (born 9 March 1970) is a former rugby union footballer who represented and captained England and Leicester. He recently, July 1st 2008, became the new England team manager, replacing Brian Ashton. Regarded as one of the greatest locks to have ever played, Johnson led the England side to a Grand Slam and World Cup victory in 2003.

He toured three times with the British and Irish Lions, becoming the only man to have captained them on two separate tours. He also led his club Leicester Tigers to back-to back Heineken Cup victories and won the league six times. Despite no coaching experience, he was appointed team manager of the national England rugby Union side in April 2008.

 

 

 


Austin Healey

Austin Sean Healey (born 26 October 1973 in Wallasey, Merseyside) is an English rugby union footballer, who played as a utility back for Leicester Tigers, and has represented England and the British Lions. He now plays for Bishop's Stortford rugby club

He has 51 England caps and 2 Lions caps. He has played for England at scrum half, fly-half, fullback and wing, and has often been used as a replacement (or substitute) because of his versatility. He is a famously competitive and "outspoken" character, gaining the nickname "The Leicester Lip".

 


 Kyran Bracken

Kyran Paul Patrick Bracken MBE (born 22 November 1971 in Dublin, Ireland) is a former English rugby union footballer who played at scrum-half for Saracens, Bristol and Waterloo R.F.C. He won a total of 51 England caps and captained the team on three occasions, retiring from international rugby in 2004.

Kyran starred in and won ITV1's celebrity ice dancing competition Dancing on Ice. In the semi-final he received the highest score in the history of Dancing on Ice at that time (29.5 out of a possible 30) matched only by rival Clare Buckfield the next week.


Jack Rowell

Jack Rowell OBE (born 1937) is the Director of Rugby union at Bath. Between 1978 and 1994 Rowell coached Bath during their golden era, winning eight John Player/Pilkington Cups and five League Championships.

Between 1995 and 1997, Rowell was the coach of the England Rugby Team. He took over from Geoff Cooke, announcing that England would give up the forward-dominated, risk-free strategies that had won so many Six Nations titles in the past, instead adopting a 'running rugby' style. Rowell's England won twenty-one of their twenty-nine matches, including the 1995

World Cup quarter-final against Australia. In percentage terms of games won Rowell is England's most successful rugby union coach.


Sharron Davies

Sharron Davies, MBE (born November 1, 1962) is a successful swimmer from the United Kingdom. Having won two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and a silver at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, Davies has built a successful second career as television presenter and patron for charities for disabled children and fitness.

In 1993 she was awarded the MBE for her services to swimming. Davies is a current patron of the Disabled Sport England and The Sports Aid Foundation. Davies is also the face of the Swim for Life charity event.


Kriss Akubusi

Kriss Kezie Uche Chukwu Duru Akabusi MBE (born 28 November 1958 in London, England) is a former athlete who went on to become a television presenter and motivational speaker.

It was in 1983 that Akabusi embarked upon his athletics career as a member of the 4x400M relay team, and in his successful time as an athlete he won three medals at the Summer Olympics and three World Championship medals, amongst others. In 1990 he broke David Hemery's longstanding British record on his way to a Gold medal at the European Championships.

Akabusi has presented the television shows Record Breakers, Gladiators and The Big Breakfast, and has regularly appeared as a panelist on many quiz shows such as A Question of Sport, They Think It's All Over and Through the Keyhole.
